We had it all planned: a special birthday dinner for a good friend at the much-talked-about Asana Kitchen, nestled in the luxurious Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City. I had visions of celebrating with delicious Asian-fused dishes, a perfect escape from the everyday hustle. But as fate would have it, we found ourselves running incredibly late. Too late for dinner, but as we soon discovered, just in time for a different kind of perfect evening.
Walking into Asana Kitchen, even with our flustered arrival, was like stepping into an oasis of calm. The atmosphere is a stunning blend of sophisticated and relaxed, with a chic design that immediately puts you at ease. The centerpiece of the restaurant is a magnificent 360-degree white marble bar, which instantly drew us in.
We learned the kitchen had just closed, but we were determined to salvage the birthday celebration. We settled in at the bar, and this is where the evening truly began. The staff were incredibly welcoming and, upon hearing our predicament, suggested we celebrate with drinks from there and cake from elsewhere. It turned out to be the perfect way to unwind.
We decided to explore their drink menu, ordering the Calabash Treasure and the Cold Bowl. The Calabash Treasure was a delightful explosion of flavor...a sweet and tangy taste with a pleasant alcoholic kick, thanks to the mix of tropical fruits, Sobolo, and lime. The Cold Bowl offered a contrasting, sophisticated profile that was toasty and herby.
Sipping on our expertly crafted cocktails and enjoying a slice of celebratory cake, we soaked in the ambiance. The gentle sound of the waterfall, the stylish decor, and the attentive service all combined to create a wonderfully memorable setting. We may not have been able to sample the intriguing menu, but we didn't feel like we were missing out. In fact, there was something wonderfully spontaneous and relaxed about just enjoying our drinks in such a beautiful place.
Our "failed" birthday dinner turned into a surprisingly perfect evening. It was a reminder that sometimes the best moments are the unplanned ones. Asana Kitchen proved to be more than just a place for a great meal; it’s a destination. We left with a promise to return for the food we so eagerly want to try. So, if you're looking for a place with a stunning ambiance and impeccable service, even if it's just for drinks and dessert, I can't recommend Asana Kitchen enough. We'll certainly be back, and next time, we'll be sure to be on time
